first friday

Every once in a while, a weekend presents itself as more chock-full of events than usual. Maybe there's a holiday of some sort, or a local yearly tradition that rears its head again. This weekend, from today, May 3, to Sunday, May 5, is packed front to back with tons of things to do both downtown and in the far-flung corners of the county.

Today is First Friday, the monthly explosion of music and art downtown. Tomorrow, it's somehow Free Comic Book Day, Star Wars Day and the Kentucky Derby. Lancaster Art Walk goes down on both Saturday and Sunday. Finally, Sunday also is Cinco de Mayo, almost daring you to call in to work sick on Monday. Though each of these occasions has its own large sub-group of partakers, we like to think that there's more than a handful of folks who could enjoy all - or at least most - of them.

To that end, we've subdivided events going down this weekend by location, starting time and price, if it applies. Check it out below and let us know if we're missing anything.
